Sleep is a powerful force that dispenses a multitude of life-changing benefits – from making us more productive, to prolonging our lives. When it is nighttime, our bodies tend to be ready to produce in addition to sustain a number of beneficial hormones, and some of them are:

  • Ghrelin and Leptin: Which helps in balancing appetite, causing less craving.
  • Sleep also controls levels of insulin and cortisol so that we wake up hungry, prompting us to eat breakfast, and we are prepared for facing daytime stress.
  • Growth hormone is released, It also helps in beautifying your skin, making it glow.
  • Prolactin speeds up and balances metabolism and immune system.
  • Melatonin, is the hormone which balances your cycle. If less sleep occurred constantly it affects the melatonin level causing insomnia.
  • Dopamine and Serotonin which are related to happiness, getting enough sleep will result in feeling more calm and happier. These two hormones affect our memory as well.
Tips and Tricks to Stimulate sleep
  • Take a hot bath or warm shower before bed.
  • Light up some scented candles.
  • Drink some warm milk or chamomile.
  • Spray some lavender oil on the bed.
  • Get rid of electronics 1 to 2 hours before bed.
  • Do some guided meditation.
  • Workout or do yoga.
  • Speak with a loved one.
  • Let the surrounding weather be somehow cold.
  • Go to bed with a light stomach.
  • Read a book.
  • Dim the lights and lower any disturbing sounds.
