Keto diet


Keto diet is a kind of diet which is known in high-fat, adequate-protein and low-carbohydrate diet. Celebrities and people who want to follow certain diet, have been crazy over this new trend known as “Keto diet”. The diet forces the body to burn fats rather than carbohydrates, as it turns fat into Ketones in the liver, which can supply energy for the brain. It helps your body stay in Ketosis.

Moreover, there are 4 types of Keto diet:

  1. Standard ketogenic diet: Consists of 75% fat, 20% protein and only 5% carbs.
  2. Cyclical ketogenic diet ): This diet involves cycles of higher-carb, such as 5 days staying on standard ketogenic diet followed by 2 high-carb days.
  3. Targeted ketogenic diet (TKD): This diet allows you to add carbs around workouts.
  4. High-protein ketogenic diet: it includes more protein. 60% fat, 35% protein and 5% carbs.

However, Standard and high-protein ketogenic diets are the ones which have been fully studied, while Targeted ketogenic and cyclical ketogenic diets are mainly used by athletes and body builders.

Pros and Cons of Keto dieting:

  • You invest into fats which triggers your body to burn fat, causing fat loss.
  • Keto is indeed effective for the days which you mostly stay immobile at.
  • It may also help preventing cancer due to low carbs intake.
  • As keto is high in fats,  it can cause liver dysfunction due to high fats surrounding the liver stopping its natural process and leading to heart disease.
  • You may be not getting enough sugar. The body requires sugar in order to give you energy in addition to help your brain work correctly. If you aren’t eating carbs, glucose cannot enter your bloodstream, which results in low energy and loss of focus.



In conclusion it is preferred to consult a nutritionist before following a keto diet or any other diet, what might help others, might be dangerous for you.
